Super Falcons Hit High Gear for WAFCON 2026! Only 6 Additional Players Expected in Morocco Camp

The Super Falcons are gradually assembling in Casablanca for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. Many clubs released players later than initially anticipated because CAF postponed the tournament from its original March–April 2026 dates to July 26–August 16, shifting the July international window later than usual and allowing clubs more time with their players before the rescheduled competition.

As of Sunday night, only six more players were yet to link up with the squad at the team hotel, while 15 players were already putting in solid work on the pitch under Coach Justine Madugu and his technical team.

Fresh arrivals included Halimatu Ayinde and Joy Omewa, who touched down in Casablanca. Meanwhile, defender Osinachi Ohale and forward Chinwendu Ihezuo of Pachuca Tuzas (Mexico) were en route.

With 19 of the 25-player squad now in camp, final-phase preparations are reaching boiling point ahead of Nigeria’s tournament opener against Malawi on Tuesday, 28 July.

Already in camp are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Shukurat Oladipo, Oluwatosin Demehin and Christy Ucheibe, midfielders Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini, plus forwards Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega and Omorinsola Babajide.
