Super Falcons Players Allege Theft at Team Hotel in Casablanca

Several Super Falcons players have reported that money was stolen from their wallets at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, where the team has been lodged during preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

According to the players, the incidents occurred while they were away from their rooms. Reported losses include:

•  Esther Okoronkwo – $700

•  Rasheedat Ajibade – $200

•  Osinachi Ohale – $100

•  Joy Omewa – $120

•  Halimatu Ayinde – $100

The total alleged amount exceeds $1,200. One of the affected players, Esther Okoronkwo, stated that she reported the matter but received no satisfactory response from hotel staff. She claimed the cleaning personnel were responsible, suggesting they took the money while the players were out of their rooms.

The reports have circulated widely on social media.

WAFCON 2026 kicks off in Morocco on Sunday, 26 July. Beyond the continental title, the tournament serves as a major pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the four semi-finalists automatically securing qualification spots.

The Super Falcons, ten-time African champions and defending title holders, are drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and debutants Malawi. The team will relocate to Rabat, where they will be based for the duration of the group stage and play all their matches.
