Nigeria vs Comoros (2nd Leg): Super Falcons 2028 Olympics Qualifiers Preview, Kick-off Time & How to Watch Live
Nigeria take a 2-0 aggregate lead into Tuesday’s return fixture in Ikenne, with a place in the third round of the LA 2028 Olympic qualifying series at stake.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will look to complete the job against Comoros on Tuesday as they continue their pursuit of qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Nigeria host Comoros in the second leg of their second-round qualifying tie at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00pm Nigerian time.
Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen’s side enter the encounter with a two-goal advantage following their 2-0 victory in the first leg on Friday, 9 October.
Michelle Alozie opened the scoring in the 48th minute before Uchenna Kanu doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 60th minute, giving the 10-time African champions a strong position ahead of the return fixture.
The Super Falcons will aim to finish the tie without allowing Comoros to mount a comeback and secure a place in the third round of the African qualifying series.
Why Both Legs of Nigeria vs Comoros Are Being Played in Nigeria
Although the first leg was officially designated as Comoros’ home fixture, both matches of the two-legged tie are being played in Nigeria.
Comoros do not have a CAF-approved stadium available to host the international fixture. Consequently, the island nation opted to use Nigeria as the venue for its home leg, with the return match also scheduled to take place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
This means the Super Falcons have played both legs on Nigerian soil, although the first encounter officially counted as Comoros’ home match.
For Tuesday’s return fixture, Nigeria will be the designated home team. The arrangement gives the Super Falcons familiarity with the venue, but the team must still deliver the required result to progress in the competition.
Super Falcons Take 2-0 Advantage into Second Leg
Nigeria controlled much of the first leg but had to wait until the second half to translate their dominance into goals.
After a goalless first half, Gift Monday helped create the opening for Alozie to score three minutes after the restart. Jennifer Echegini subsequently delivered the corner kick from which Kanu headed home Nigeria’s second goal in the 60th minute.
The victory gave Eguavoen’s side a clean sheet and a two-goal aggregate advantage.
However, Nigeria’s first-half finishing difficulties were a talking point after the match. Eguavoen acknowledged that the final ball had been a challenge and explained that the coaching staff addressed the issue during the interval.
The return fixture presents another opportunity for the Super Falcons to improve their attacking execution while maintaining their defensive organisation.
Nigeria will advance with a draw or a victory. A one-goal defeat would also leave them ahead on aggregate, while a two-goal defeat would take the tie to the applicable extra-time and penalty-shootout procedures if the aggregate score is level.
A defeat by three or more goals would eliminate Nigeria from the qualifying competition.
Can Comoros Overturn the Deficit?
Comoros face a difficult task after losing the first leg 2-0, but they will be hoping to respond in the return fixture.
The team reached the second round after an emphatic 30-0 aggregate victory over Sudan, winning the first leg 17-0 before recording a 13-0 win in the return match.
That scoring record demonstrated their attacking effectiveness against Sudan, although facing Nigeria represents a considerably tougher challenge.
Comoros head coach Yusuf Abdullah previously described the opportunity to play against the Super Falcons as an important experience for his players, highlighting the potential benefits for women's football in the country.
Captain Assimina Maoulida also said her team intended to enjoy the occasion and give its best.
They now face the challenge of finding a way past Nigeria's defence while attempting to overturn the two-goal deficit.
Eguavoen and the Super Falcons Target Progression
The second leg will be another important test for Eguavoen, who is leading the Super Falcons in their pursuit of a second consecutive appearance at the Women's Olympic Football Tournament.
Nigeria returned to the Olympics at Paris 2024 after a 16-year absence and are seeking to secure another place at Los Angeles 2028.
The squad combines established internationals, including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie Christy Uchiebe, Uchenna Kanu, Toni Payne and Michelle Alozie, with emerging players who have been given opportunities during the qualifying campaign.
Joy Igbokwe made her senior international debut in the first leg, while Janet Akekoromowei and Suliat Abideen also earned their first competitive senior caps during the match.
Whether Eguavoen retains the same starting lineup or makes changes for the return fixture, Nigeria's immediate objective remains clear: complete the tie and advance to the next round.
What Is at Stake? Nigeria Could Face Morocco Next
The winner of the Nigeria-Comoros tie on aggregate will advance to the third round of the CAF Women's Olympic qualifying competition, where Morocco awaits.
Morocco have already progressed to the third round following Congo's withdrawal from their scheduled second-round tie.
Nigeria must first negotiate the return fixture against Comoros before turning their attention to the next stage.
The qualification campaign remains a long one, with five knockout rounds in the African qualifying series and only two African teams ultimately earning places at the Los Angeles 2028 Women's Football Tournament.
For the Super Falcons, Tuesday's match is an opportunity to take another step towards that objective.
