Super Falcons Beat Senegal 3-0 as Joy Omewa Scores Brace and Oshoala Adds Third

The Super Falcons of Nigeria produced a dominant display to defeat Senegal 3-0 in the second match of their international friendly double-header at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

A brilliant brace from Joy Omewa and a second-half strike from Asisat Oshoala secured victory for the ten-time African champions, who completed a clean sweep of the two-match series after their 2-1 win in the first encounter.

The result provides another confidence boost for head coach Justine Madugu and his team as preparations continue for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Super Falcons Dominate Senegal in Ikenne

Nigeria controlled large periods of the match and created several chances before eventually breaking the deadlock shortly after the restart.

The Super Falcons had shown attacking intent throughout the first half but were unable to find the breakthrough against a resilient Senegalese side.

However, the deadlock was finally broken in the 49th minute when Joy Omewa finished brilliantly from a well-delivered cross by Shukurat Oladipo.

The Nottingham Forest forward doubled Nigeria’s advantage seven minutes later, displaying excellent movement and composure inside the penalty area to complete her brace and put the Super Falcons firmly in control.

Oshoala Adds Third to Seal Comfortable Victory

With Nigeria already leading 2-0, veteran striker Asisat Oshoala made an immediate impact after coming off the bench.

The experienced forward latched onto a pass from captain Rasheedat Ajibade in the 66th minute to calmly finish, making it 3-0.

The goal was Oshoala’s second in the two-match series after also finding the net in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Senegal a few days earlier.

The Super Falcons comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to secure an impressive clean sheet and another victory over the West African rivals.

Her performance further strengthens Nigeria’s attacking options ahead of upcoming competitions and reinforces her growing importance within the national team setup.

Defensive Improvement Encouraging for Nigeria

While the goals attracted most of the attention, Nigeria’s defensive performance was equally impressive.

The Super Falcons restricted Senegal’s attacking opportunities throughout the game and successfully kept a clean sheet.

The defensive organization, combined with effective midfield control, allowed Nigeria to dominate proceedings and limit the visitors to very few clear-cut chances.
