Super Eagles Face Guinea-Bissau Challenge As CAF Names Ethiopian Match Officials

CAF has appointed an Ethiopian officiating team for Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau in Bissau.
Tewodros Mitiku has been selected as the centre referee for the Group L encounter, with compatriots Fasika Biru Fasika and Tigle Belachew named as the assistant referees.
Manuhe Woldetsadik will serve as the fourth official, completing the Ethiopian match-officials team for the fixture.
The appointment comes as both nations prepare for an important second round of matches in the qualifying campaign. Nigeria began their campaign with a victory over Madagascar, while Guinea-Bissau also secured three points in their opening fixture.
The Super Eagles will now turn their attention to Bissau as they look to maintain their positive start and strengthen their position in Group L.
Playing away from home presents another challenge for Nigeria, with Guinea-Bissau expected to rely on home support and a disciplined approach. The Super Eagles, meanwhile, will be aiming for another strong performance to keep their qualification campaign on track.
With both teams entering the fixture with three points, the encounter could have an early impact on the shape of the group.
