FIFA Approves Normalisation Committee to Run Nigeria Football
Interim committee members to be appointed jointly by FIFA and CAF, with mandate ending by May 31, 2027.

FIFA has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to manage the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) pending fresh elections into its Executive Committee, with the mandate set to end no later than May 31, 2027.
The Bureau of the FIFA Council has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to oversee the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ahead of fresh elections into the federation’s Executive Committee.
The decision was communicated in a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström and addressed to Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme MON, according to the NFF Communications Department.
FIFA stated that the committee would comprise a suitable number of members to be appointed jointly by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as soon as possible.
Committee Given May 2027 Deadline
According to the letter, the Normalisation Committee will remain in office until it completes its assigned responsibilities, but its mandate must not extend beyond May 31, 2027.
The committee will oversee the process leading to fresh elections into the NFF Executive Committee. FIFA also stated that none of its members would be eligible to contest for any of the positions to be filled during the forthcoming elections.
The arrangement is intended to provide an interim administrative structure for Nigerian football while preparations are made for the next NFF elections.
NFF Secretariat to Continue Daily Operations
Pending the appointment of the Normalisation Committee, the NFF Secretariat will continue to manage the day-to-day operations of the federation.
This includes the ongoing administration of Nigerian football until the committee is formally constituted and assumes its responsibilities.
Further details regarding the composition of the committee and the specific steps towards the next NFF elections are expected following its appointment.
