Guinea-Bissau 3-0 Nigeria: Super Eagles Suffer Heavy Defeat in AFCON 2027 Qualifier
Franculino Dju, Baldé and Djalo score as Nigeria lose their second Group L match, leaving the Super Eagles three points behind leaders Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles suffered a 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their second Group L fixture of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Franculino Dju, Baldé and Djalo scored for the hosts at the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau as Nigeria failed to build on their opening-match victory over Madagascar.
Nigeria head coach Éric Chelle saw his team fall behind in the first half before Guinea-Bissau added two more goals after the break to secure all three points.
The result leaves Nigeria with three points from their opening two matches, while Guinea-Bissau move to six points after winning their first two fixtures.
Franculino Dju Gives Guinea-Bissau First-Half Lead
Guinea-Bissau took the lead in the 15th minute through Franculino Dju, who found the net to put the hosts ahead.
The early goal left Nigeria chasing the game, but the Super Eagles were unable to find an equaliser before half-time.
Guinea-Bissau went into the break with a 1-0 advantage, leaving Nigeria needing a response in the second half.

Baldé and Djalo Complete Guinea-Bissau Victory
Guinea-Bissau doubled their lead in the 66th minute when Baldé scored to make it 2-0.
Nigeria were unable to reduce the deficit as the hosts maintained control of their advantage.
Djalo added a third goal in the 90+5th minute to complete the 3-0 victory.
The result gives Guinea-Bissau back-to-back wins in Group L following their 2-0 victory over Tanzania in their opening fixture.

Nigeria Drop to Second in Group L
Nigeria opened their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in Uyo on September 25.
Madagascar took the lead through Kari in the 16th minute before George Ilenikhena equalised in first-half stoppage time. Moses Usor scored in the 65th minute to secure all three points for the Super Eagles.
However, the defeat in Bissau means Nigeria have now recorded one win and one loss from their opening two matches.
Guinea-Bissau have six points from two victories and lead the group, while Nigeria remain on three points.
Madagascar and Tanzania are both on one point after playing out a 1-1 draw on September 29.
Tanzania are co-hosts of AFCON 2027 and have already secured their place at the tournament. Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar will continue their qualifying campaigns as the group fixtures progress.
