NWFL Super Six Matchday 1: Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels Secure Opening Wins

The 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six got underway in exciting fashion at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, with Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels recording important victories on Matchday 1, while Bayelsa Queens and Abia Angels shared the spoils in a closely contested draw.
Matchday 1 Results
Edo Queens 0-1 Nasarawa Amazons
Nasarawa Amazons began their Super Six campaign on a winning note thanks to a 61st-minute strike from Adaobi Okah, which proved enough to secure all three points against defending champions Edo Queens.
Rivers Angels 3-2 FC Robo Queens
Hosts Rivers Angels edged FC Robo Queens in a thrilling five-goal encounter. Grace Saliu opened the scoring in the 8th minute before Oluwakemi Adegbuyi equalized for FC Robo Queens in the 22nd minute.
Second-half goals from Abasiofon Uwah (65’) and Ramotalahi Kareem (67’) restored Rivers Angels’ advantage. Adegbuyi grabbed her second goal of the game in the 80th minute, but Rivers Angels held on for a valuable opening-day victory.
Bayelsa Queens 1-1 Abia Angels
Bayelsa Queens and Abia Angels settled for a share of the points in an evenly contested match. Harmony Chidi put Bayelsa Queens ahead in the 56th minute, but Mariam Abdulrasheed responded just two minutes later to earn Abia Angels a deserved draw.
