NBBF Election: Three Candidates Clear Screening as Bakare Is Disqualified

Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, former D’Tigers captain Olumide Oyedeji and Ejike Ugboaja have been cleared to contest for the presidency of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).
The trio passed the federation’s electoral screening ahead of the October 15 election, while Mark Ugoche has been given until Monday to submit his tax clearance certificate to complete his qualification requirements.
However, Ayo Bakare has been disqualified from the contest following the late submission of his electoral documents.
Chairman of the NBBF Electoral Committee, Dr Lanre Glover, disclosed the decisions during a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, outlining the outcome of the screening exercise.
Glover explained that while Abdullahi, Oyedeji and Ugboaja had met the requirements to proceed, Ugoche was granted additional time to provide the outstanding document.
Bakare, on the other hand, was ruled out of the race because his documents were submitted after the stipulated deadline.
The NBBF presidential election is scheduled to take place on October 15 at the ICC Centre, where the next administration of the federation will be determined.
The election is expected to attract attention from basketball stakeholders, with the outcome set to shape the federation’s leadership and its plans for the development of the sport in Nigeria.
