2026 NPBL Final Four Moves To Port Harcourt After Venue Clash

Port Harcourt has been confirmed as the host city for the 2026 Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL) Final Four, with the season-ending competition rescheduled to September 20–22.

The change was announced by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) after an official Rivers State Government event created a clash with the tournament’s original schedule at the Basketball Stadium on Niger Street, Old Port Harcourt Township.

Despite the change in dates, the venue will remain the home of the decisive stage of the NPBL season.

The Final Four will feature Rivers Hoopers, Maktown Flyers, Gboko City Chiefs and Aso Sky Hawks, who secured their places after an intense Final Eight campaign.

Rivers Hoopers finished top of the standings with a 6-1 record, edging Maktown Flyers on points difference after both teams recorded identical records. Gboko City Chiefs and Aso Sky Hawks completed the lineup after finishing with 5-2 records.

The four teams will compete in a round-robin format over three days, with the team finishing top of the standings crowned the 2026 NPBL champion.

Beyond the league title, the tournament carries an additional incentive, as the champions will earn Nigeria's ticket to the 2027 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season.

Technical meetings are scheduled for September 19, with games beginning the following day. The participating teams are expected to depart Port Harcourt on September 23.

With the country's top four teams set to battle for domestic supremacy, basketball fans in Port Harcourt are expected to witness a highly competitive conclusion to the 2026 NPBL season.
