Nigeria Women's nominations for the 2026 CAF Awards

The nominations for the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards have been released, with Nigeria securing representation across several categories.
This year's edition is set to be held in Lagos, Nigeria, at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, one of the country's leading cultural venues.
Nigeria has received nominations across three different categories: Women's Goalkeeper of the Year, Women's Young Player of the Year and Women's National Team of the Year.

Edo Queens goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma has been nominated for the Women's Goalkeeper of the Year Award following her impressive performances for the NWFL champions and WAFU-B Women's Champions League qualifying finalists.
However, she faces stiff competition from Chloe N'Gazi, Michaely Bihina, Cynthia Konlan, Mercy Sikelo, Fatoumata Karantao, Khadija Er-Rmichi, Adji Ndiaye, Kaylin Swart and Hazel Nali.

Meanwhile, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie misses out on the nomination after winning the award three consecutive times.
For the Women's Young Player of the Year Award, young talent Kemi Adegbuyi of Robo Queens and Nigeria's Flamingos has earned a nomination following her outstanding performances in the NWFL, where she emerged as the League and Super Six MVP, as well as her impressive displays in the WAFU-B region during the Women's Champions League qualifiers.

Benfica and Falconets goal-scoring sensation Janet Akekoromowei also gets a nomination in the category.

Despite failing to win the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Falcons have been nominated for the Women's National Team of the Year Award.
Nigeria will compete alongside Algeria, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Morocco and WAFCON champions Cameroon for the award.
The nominations mark another recognition of Nigeria's growing representation in women's football across the continent, with three categories featuring Nigerian nominees at this year's CAF Awards.
The winners will be announced at the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony ,which will take place on Monday, December 7th, 2026.
