Nigeria 4-0 Togo: Flamingos Win WAFU B U17 Girls Cup With Perfect Record

Captain Chidera Harmony scored two first-half penalties and Nigeria’s Flamingos beat Togo 4-0 on Sunday in Yamoussoukro to win the 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup with five victories from five matches.

The result took Nigeria to 15 points, 17 goals scored and two conceded. A win or a draw would have been enough to finish top. Busari’s side still controlled the match from start to finish.

Kemi Adegbuyi was fouled in the box in the 15th minute. Harmony converted.

Adegbuyi won another penalty just after the half-hour. Harmony scored again in the 35th minute and Nigeria went in 2-0 up at the break.

Umejiaku scored a beautiful goal and Adegbuyi added a late goal

Substitute Oluebube Umejiaku made it 3-0 in the 67th minute with a beautiful finish. The 16-year-old had also scored in the opening 5-0 win over Niger.

Adegbuyi then scored herself in the 90th minute to complete the 4-0 win. She had won both penalties before finishing the game as a scorer.

Togo rarely threatened. Nigeria kept a fourth clean sheet of the tournament.

Nigeria Win Penalty Shootout 5-3 After Defeating Togo 4-0

A penalty shootout was taken after every final-matchday game at the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup, regardless of the 90-minute score. Only the regular-time result counted for the table.

Nigeria had already won 4–0. The shootout was for experience.

Champions after 2024 heartbreak

Nigeria were runners-up when the first WAFU B U17 Girls Cup was played in Ghana in 2024, losing the final to the Black Maidens on penalties. This time they beat Ghana 4-2 in the group and did not drop a point.

Harmony and Adegbuyi both finished the tournament with four goals. Congratulations to the players and the entire coaching crew, including head coach Akeem Busari, on a brilliant campaign and a well-earned title.

The campaign now turns toward the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, where Nigeria are in Group B with North Korea, Puerto Rico and Poland.
