Nigeria Flying Eagles Storm Into WAFU B Semi-Finals with Dominant 3-0 Victory Over Togo

FULL-TIME: Flying Eagles 3-0 Togo 🇳🇬🦅
The Flying Eagles have booked their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-20 Championship after an impressive 3-0 victory over Togo in their second group match.
After a goalless first half, head coach Abdul Maikaba made a decisive tactical switch before the restart, introducing Samson Joshua for Adamu Hussaini. The substitution immediately changed the tempo of the game.
Just a minute into the second half, Abdulmuiz Adeleke broke the deadlock, finishing clinically to give Nigeria the lead. The goal took the prolific striker’s tally to three goals in two matches.
Twelve minutes later, the in-form forward doubled Nigeria’s advantage with a moment of individual brilliance. Adeleke went one-on-one with the Togolese goalkeeper, dropped his shoulder, and calmly slotted home to complete his second consecutive brace of the tournament.
Substitute Abdoulaye Agbegoye, who came on for Adeleke in the 58th minute, wrapped up the victory in the 85th minute, finishing off a fine team move to seal a commanding 3-0 win.
Nigeria looked short of clear-cut opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, but completely dominated the second half from the first whistle after the restart, controlling possession and creating quality chances.
The Flying Eagles have now scored seven goals in two matches, conceded just two, won both of their opening fixtures, and recorded their first clean sheet of the competition, with goalkeeper Clinton Lawani keeping Togo at bay throughout.
Abdulmuiz Adeleke continued his fine form, taking his tournament tally to four goals in two matches after his brace against Ghana.
With six points from two games, Nigeria have booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 WAFU B U20 Boys’ Cup.
Although qualification for the semi-finals is already secured, Nigeria will round off their Group B campaign against Burkina Faso on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Burkina Faso, who defeated Togo in their opening game, will face Ghana tonight.
A dominant second-half display, another brace from the red-hot Abdulmuiz Adeleke, and the Flying Eagles continue their march toward the WAFU B title. 🦅🇳🇬
