Amokachi Completes CAF A Coaching Licence in Morocco, Boosts Coaching Credentials

Former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi has taken another major step in his coaching career after successfully completing his CAF A Coaching Licence in Morocco.

The Nigerian football legend, popularly known as “The Bull”, confirmed the achievement after completing the advanced coaching programme, further strengthening his credentials as he continues his journey in football management.

Amokachi expressed his excitement after earning the qualification, thanking the Moroccan Football Federation for the opportunity.

The CAF A Licence is one of the continent's most important coaching qualifications and provides advanced training in tactical organisation, technical development, match preparation and team management. The latest achievement could significantly improve Amokachi's chances of securing bigger coaching opportunities in African football.

Amokachi's Coaching Journey

Amokachi is no stranger to the dugout, having built up considerable coaching experience since ending his illustrious playing career.

His coaching journey has included spells with several Nigerian clubs, including Nasarawa United, Enyimba and FC Ifeanyi Ubah. He has also managed Lobi Stars and gained coaching experience outside Nigeria with Finnish side JS Hercules.

The former striker has also worked extensively with Nigeria's national teams. Amokachi served as an assistant coach of the Super Eagles under several technical crews, including Shuaibu Amodu and the late Stephen Keshi.

He was part of Keshi's coaching staff when Nigeria won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, adding another major honour to his football career—this time from the technical area.

Amokachi also served in an interim capacity with the Super Eagles and has previously worked with Nigeria's U-23 national team.

From The Pitch to the Dugout

As a player, Amokachi was one of the most feared Nigerian forwards of his generation. He was part of the Super Eagles team that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and represented Nigeria at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups.

He also played a key role in Nigeria's historic gold-medal-winning football team at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

At club level, Amokachi enjoyed a successful career in Europe, representing Belgian side Club Brugge, English club Everton and Turkish giants Besiktas.

Now, more than two decades after making his name as one of Nigeria's finest attacking players, Amokachi continues to invest in his development as a coach.

The completion of the CAF A Coaching Licence represents a significant milestone for the former Super Eagles star.

With experience in the Nigeria Professional Football League, the national team setup and European football, Amokachi now has another important qualification to support his ambitions of managing at a higher level.

His journey has been far from conventional, but his latest achievement shows that “The Bull” remains determined to make an impact in football—only this time from the touchline.

As Nigerian football continues to call for better-qualified coaches and stronger technical development, Amokachi's decision to further his coaching education could open the door to new opportunities at club and national team level.

For one of Nigeria's most celebrated footballers, the next chapter of the journey may now be just beginning.
