Former Derby Football Academy defender Abdulwaris Yunus has completed his move to Czech side FK Teplice, making the step from the clubโs U19 setup to the senior team.
The former Nigeria U17 Golden Eaglets defender now begins a new chapter in his development, with the move taking him into the Czech top flight and bringing him closer to regular senior professional football.
Yunus joined Derby Football Academy in 2022, where he developed into a versatile defensive player capable of operating in three different positions โ centre-back, defensive midfield and right-back.
His versatility, defensive ability and tactical understanding have been key aspects of his development since joining Derby.
After progressing through the academy system and earning recognition at international youth level with the Golden Eaglets, Yunus now has the opportunity to test himself at senior level in Europe.
His promotion to the FK Teplice first team represents another important milestone in a journey that began in Nigerian grassroots football.
