Nigeria Rakes In $130,000 From World Athletics Ultimate Championship

Team Nigeria wrapped up its campaign at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest with a combined $130,000 in prize money from five events.
The Nigerian contingent faced some of the world’s leading track and field athletes at the three-day championship, which brought together elite performers from across the globe.
Tobi Amusan emerged as Nigeria’s standout performer, recording the country’s highest finish at the competition. The hurdler’s strong showing added to her growing list of impressive performances on the international stage.
Other members of the Nigerian team also contributed to the country’s overall earnings across their respective events, helping the contingent finish the competition with a significant financial reward.
The Ultimate Championship, which made its debut in Budapest, featured a record $10 million prize pool, the largest in the history of a track and field competition. Individual event winners received $150,000, while runners-up earned $75,000 and third-place finishers took home $40,000.
Nigeria's $130,000 haul highlights the financial opportunities available to athletes at the new World Athletics event, while the performances in Budapest provided valuable experience against some of the sport's biggest stars.
