What Nigeria’s Campaign Shows
Nigeria’s tournament featured several encouraging attacking performances, particularly the 7-0 victory over New Caledonia and the 11 goals scored during the group stage.
However, the team’s four group-stage draws meant they had limited room for error when the classification rounds began. The 6-3 defeat to Benin ended their Tier C title pursuit, while the penalty-shootout loss to Chile and the defeat to Panama prevented a higher final placement.
The campaign also highlighted the importance of converting competitive performances into victories. Nigeria scored three goals against both South Sudan and Chile, but neither match produced a win in regulation time.
The Future Eagles ultimately finished 76th, with their tournament ending after the 2-1 defeat to Panama.
For Nigerian youth football, the experience provides another opportunity to assess the development of young players and the preparation required to compete more consistently at international level.
Final position: 76th place at the 2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival.
