The Canada-born forward, who plays her college football for Oregon State University, has earned her place in the Falconets’ final squad for the tournament. According to FIFA’s official squad list, Ogbolu is registered for the U20 Women’s World Cup as a player for OSU Beavers in the United States and is listed at 170cm tall. Born and raised in Canada to Nigerian parents, Ogbolu is now preparing to represent the country of her heritage on the biggest stage of her young career.

In an exclusive interview with AdemolaSports, she opens up about the emotional moment she received her Falconets call-up, her Nigerian roots, adapting to the team and what wearing Nigeria’s colours means to her.

An emotional moment for Ogbolu and her family

For Ogbolu, the news that she had been called into the Falconets setup was a moment she experienced with her family.

She found out through them, making the announcement even more special.

“I found out through my family, and it was an emotional moment for all of us.”

The call-up represented years of hard work and sacrifice involving not only Ogbolu but also the people who have supported her football journey.

“We’ve all worked and sacrificed so much over the years, so receiving the call-up was a blessing.”

While the moment was exciting, Ogbolu also understood that receiving the opportunity was only the beginning.

“It was exciting, but it also reminded me that the real work is just beginning.”

That work has now taken her to Poland.

Ogbolu has made Nigeria’s final World Cup squad and travelled with the Falconets as they prepare for the tournament.

From Canada to Nigeria

Ogbolu was born and raised in Canada, where her football journey began at a young age.

But Nigeria has always been an important part of her identity.

Both of her parents are Nigerian, and Ogbolu says she has always been proud of her Nigerian heritage.

“Both of my parents are Nigerian, so I’ve always been proud of my Nigerian heritage.”

Growing up, she learned about Nigerian culture and values and the importance of representing something bigger than herself.

That connection has now become particularly meaningful as she prepares to represent Nigeria at a FIFA World Cup.

“Having the opportunity to wear Nigeria’s colours is a huge honour for me and my family.”

For Ogbolu, the green and white therefore represents more than just a football shirt.

It represents her family, her heritage and the opportunity to represent a country that has always been part of her story.

A love for football that started early

Ogbolu's football journey began simply because she loved playing the game.

“I started playing soccer when I was very young because I simply loved the game.”

Her parents also played an important role in her development, encouraging her to work hard while enjoying the process.

“My parents always encouraged me to work hard, enjoy the process, and keep improving every day.”

Those lessons have remained important as her career has developed and eventually led her into the Nigerian national-team setup.

Settling into the Falconets

Joining the Falconets meant stepping into a new environment and meeting teammates and coaches she had not previously worked with regularly.

Ogbolu says the transition has been a positive experience.

“It’s been a great experience.”

She credits the players and coaching staff for helping her feel welcome.

“Everyone has been welcoming, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know my teammates and the coaching staff.”

For Ogbolu, training has also provided an opportunity to continue developing as a player.

“Every training session is an opportunity to learn, improve, and build chemistry with the team.”

Asked whether a particular teammate had helped her settle in, Ogbolu gave credit to the entire squad.

“Honestly, everyone has been supportive.”

She added:

“The players have made me feel comfortable, and it’s been easy to connect because we all share the same goal of representing Nigeria.”

That common goal has helped her adapt quickly to the Falconets environment.

“The football is very competitive”

One of the biggest differences Ogbolu has noticed since joining Nigeria is the style and intensity of football.

“The biggest difference is the style and intensity.”

She says the competitive nature of the environment has pushed her to improve.

“The football is very competitive, and every session pushes you to improve.”

Rather than seeing the adjustment as a problem, Ogbolu has embraced the opportunity to learn.

“It’s been a great challenge, and I’m enjoying learning from a different football environment.”

Now, that experience will be put to the test against some of the world's best young players in Poland.

Asked to describe her playing style in three words, Ogbolu chose:

It is a concise description from a player who is now preparing for the biggest international tournament of her young career.

The Oregon State forward will hope to bring those qualities to the Falconets when Nigeria begin their campaign.

What would the World Cup mean to her?

For Ogbolu, the significance of representing Nigeria at a FIFA World Cup is difficult to overstate.

Asked what making the World Cup team would mean to her, she had a simple answer:

“It would mean everything.”

She described the opportunity as the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice.

“Representing Nigeria at a FIFA World Cup would be a dream come true and a reward for years of hard work, sacrifice, and support from my family, coaches, and teammates.”

At the time she answered the question, she also recognised that a World Cup place had to be earned.

“At the same time, I know I have to earn that opportunity every day in camp.”

She has now earned it.

Ogbolu is officially part of Nigeria's World Cup squad and has travelled with the Falconets to Poland.

Nigeria will begin their 2026 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup campaign in Group F, where they will face Spain, China PR and New Caledonia.

“I’ll continue to give my best every time I step on the field, stay humble, work hard, and trust God through the journey.”
